Psarou Beach on Mykonos

Psarou lies on the far side of the hotel’s peninsula from Platis Gialos, and the two could not be more different in character. Where Platis Gialos is easy and family-shaped, Psarou is where the yachts drop anchor and the island puts on its best clothes.

The bay itself is small, deep and beautifully sheltered: crystal-clear water, fine golden sand, and organised sunbeds that fill quickly in July and August. Book a front row through the desk a day ahead in high season, or come early and take your pick.

Around the sand are some of the island’s better-known restaurants and beach clubs, and water sports run from the eastern corner — jet skis, paddleboards and sailing lessons among them.

It is a five-minute walk from the hotel, which means you can swim at Psarou in the morning, cross the headland for lunch at Platis Gialos, and never once get in a car.
