Seen from the water, Mykonos rearranges itself: the crowds vanish, the coastline turns out to be mostly empty, and beaches you fought for a sunbed on become quiet bays you have to yourselves. A private boat day is the single most recommended thing on our concierge list — here is how to do it well.
Leave Platis Gialos mid-morning and run the south coast east: a swim stop at Kalo Livadi, a slow pass below the lighthouse at Armenistis, then across to Rhenia’s twin turquoise coves for a long anchored lunch. If the group wants history, add a guided hour on Delos on the way back.
Three things decide the day: the skipper, the wind and the departure time. A local skipper reads the meltemi and always has a sheltered plan B; a morning start buys you the calmest sea; and July–August dates should be booked at least a week out. Sunscreen, a hat and a light jumper for the ride home cover the rest.
The desk works with a small fleet we know personally, from six-seat RIBs to a 15-metre sailing yacht. Tell us the group size and the mood — swimming, celebrating or simply escaping — and we will match the boat to it.
