Platis Gialos sits on the south coast of Mykonos, immediately next to the hotel’s peninsula, and it is the beach we send more guests to than any other. Calm, clear water, a wide shoreline of soft golden sand, and a row of tavernas and beach bars that run from breakfast until well after dark.
It is especially good for families and for anyone who wants the sea without the volume: the water shelves gently, the bay is sheltered from the worst of the meltemi, and sunbeds and umbrellas can be rented along the whole length of the beach.
Water sports are easy to arrange here — jet skiing, paddleboarding and water skiing all operate from the sand — and the jetty at the eastern end is where the small boats leave for Paradise, Super Paradise and Agrari if you want a louder afternoon.
Mykonos Town is a short taxi or minibus ride away, which makes it possible to spend the morning in the water and the evening in Chora. From the hotel, it is a barefoot walk.
